Jimmy Butler has made a name for himself in Chicago going into his fifth season. The allstar will begin collecting part of his $95 million contract starting this year. With big money comes big responsibilities. Butler is now expected to take another leap in his game, and with the Bulls luck he could very well do so under Fred Hoiberg.
There’s not much Butler can do to improve on the defensive end since he’s mastered the craft of defense at a young age. However, if he’s able to play an efficient offensive game, he’ll be able to save a lot more energy to play hard defense.
Last season, Jimmy Butler averaged 20 points per game while shooting 46% percent from the field and 37% from behind the arc. While Butler received the Most Improved Player award, there is still a lot he can improve this season just by playing in Hoiberg’s system. With the help of Jim Boylen as a shooting coach and Fred Hoiberg’s free flowing offense, Butler should be able to bump up his three-point percentage up to 40% with a few extra open three-pointers per game.
Last season, Jimmy Butler’s offense progressed dramatically but still wasn’t fluid enough because Thibodeau didn’t run much offensive sets. Butler proved his offensive skills in a raw offensive system, which gives Bulls fans a lot of hope that he can take another major leap under Coach Hoiberg.
With Butler’s minutes decreasing and ball distributing to the open guy, Butler’s averages might stay the same or take a small dip. However, his efficiency and energy will sky rocket which will help him become a all-around great player.
