Just weeks after reports indicating Taj Gibson could be out of Chicago sooner than expected, rumors are beginning to surface with a possible trade that could land Rudy Gay in Chicago.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Sacramento Kings are aiming to trade Rudy Gay more so than DeMarcus Cousins.

The Chicago Bulls are reportedly rumored to have offered a package that surrounds Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott and receive draft picks and Rudy Gay in return. The rumors seem slightly incomplete as the money doesn’t add up, the Bulls would be in significant financial issues if the trade rumored were to go down. The Bulls would need a third team to scoop up another small contract off the Bulls hands; possibly Kirk Hinrich.
The Chicago Bulls have high hopes for Doug McDermott going into the following season if they choose to keep him. However, Taj Gibson seems to be the forgotten man in Fred Hoiberg’s new system.
Rudy Gay, age 29, is owed $12 million this upcoming season. Gay also has an opt-out clause which could make him a free agent in 2018.
Rudy Gay averaged 21.1 points per game with 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting 45% from the field last season. Gay was considered snubbed from the Allstar team a few times in his career, especially in his Memphis days. Pairing Gay up next to Jimmy Butler would be a defensive nightmare for any team. Gay’s contract is considered to be extremely economically friendly in terms of his production. Gay brings something very special to the table that could ease up the roles of Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler on the offensive end.
